01 / The problem
Cameras write a small file of notes next to every picture. You never see it. Most apps strip some of it. Some strip none of it.
The exact second the shutter fired, down to the timezone offset. Enough to place you on a timeline you never agreed to publish.
Make, model, lens, and on plenty of cameras a body serial number — the same string across every photo you have ever posted.
Latitude and longitude to six decimals. That is a doorway, not a neighbourhood. It rides along in the file until something removes it.

Three steps, no account, no upload. The file is read by your own browser, the clean copy is written by your own browser, and the page has no server to send anything to.

JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF are rebuilt without their metadata blocks — same pixels, byte for byte. Then it re-scans the result in front of you.
Honest / Small print
Duck Scrub removes the metadata blocks it supports: EXIF, XMP, IPTC, JPEG comments, PNG text and time chunks, WebP EXIF/XMP, GIF comment and application extensions. HEIC, AVIF and TIFF can be inspected, and are cleaned by re-encoding the pixels rather than rebuilding the container. It does not claim to be an anonymity tool — the picture itself still shows whatever it shows.

No. Duck Scrub reads the file with the browser's own file APIs and writes the clean
copy in memory. There is no upload endpoint in the code, and the pages are static
files. Open the network tab and watch it do nothing, or read
assets/js/meta.js — the whole engine is about a thousand lines.
No. The shared theme is privacy and the name is a joke about zero-knowledge. There is no Zcash integration, no zero-knowledge proof, and no affiliation with the Zcash project or the Electric Coin Company. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
It removes the metadata blocks it supports, and then re-scans the result so you can see what is left. It does not touch the pixels, so anything visible in the picture — a street sign, a reflection, a face — is still there. Camera sensor noise and encoder fingerprints also survive. Treat it as "less data", not "no data". That is why the slogan says less.
For JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF, no — the file is rebuilt with the same compressed image data and only the metadata segments dropped, so the pixels are identical byte for byte. For HEIC, AVIF and TIFF the browser has to decode and re-encode, which does change the bytes; the tool tells you which path it took for every file.
An ICC profile describes how colours should be displayed, not who took the photo. Dropping it can visibly shift colours on wide-gamut screens, so it is kept by default — with a checkbox to drop it anyway if you want the file as bare as possible.
No. It is a meme coin. It has no revenue, no yield, no intrinsic value and no team promising you anything. The tool on this site is free and works whether or not you ever touch the token. Only spend what you are fine losing entirely.
Memes want to travel. Make stickers, reaction images, whatever — just don't use the duck to claim an endorsement, an affiliation, or a fake contract address.
